Marvin Zonis is professor emeritus of international political economy at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago. He is an expert on emerging markets and a consultant to businesses and governments. He has testified before committees of the U.S. Congress, advised the Czech Republic on its privatization program, hitchhiked across Afghanistan, and appeared on television programs from Nightline to Oprah. Dan Lefkovitz served as director of country analysis at Marvin Zonis and Associates, Marvin Zonis's political risk consultancy. Dan's articles on international political economy have appeared in the Asian Wall Street Journal, the Far Eastern Economic Review, the Jerusalem Post, and Pensions and Investments. He has lived in both Israel and Egypt but spied for neither.
Sam Wilkin is editor of Countryrisk.com, an online magazine dedicated to country analysis. His research has received funding from the Ford Foundation, the National Science Foundation, and the Fuji Research Institute of Japan. He has traveled Russia by rail, Indonesia by bike, and India by foot, and is an assistant instructor in Kendo, Japanese fencing, for the University of Chicago.
